A solid performance in our opening league game saw us take all 3 points against a determined Brunton side. Goals either side of the break from Flashman and Lynskey ensured we got off to the perfect start to the season. After a very low key pre-season the team picked up from where they left off last season, looking bright on the ball against some robust challenges.. Remarkably there were no cards issued even though the captains had to be spoken to several times.
Manager Tom Copeland was pleased with the display and the maturity shown by some of the younger players who stuck to the task, helped by a few of the older heads in the team. Albert Hill came in for high praise for his performance in defence and that special ball to release Femi Ajijola to set up the first goal.
We now have a week to prepare for next Sunday’s tricky away trip to Birkenhead Rovers who lost last night in their first Buildersliga 4 game since relegation.
